A very hardy red chicory or radicchio variety with attractive red-flecked leaves, which has good potential as a perennial. (See The Chicory Challenge). Radicchio leaves can be used raw in a salad (their bitter notes usually need to be complemented with milder leaves) or cooked when they lose their bitterness (grilling with oil is popular).
